11:40 AM How Modular Design & Construction Allowed the $7.6 million Macquarie University Incubator to be Constructed in just Five Months

Macquarie University Incubator was designed to respond to the diverse and changing needs of its occupants. The built solution was designed to be relocatable and had a short timeframe for construction completion. This session will explore:

How the decision to use cross-laminated timber (CLT) and other engineered timbers allowed the architects to create the desired atmosphere for the space
How the prefabricated modular construction allowed for the project to be completed offsite therefore minimising disruptions to the working campus
The environmentally sustainable features of this building such as natural ventilation, cantilevered roofs and double glazing
